The New Xodo PDF Reader Desktop Experience: New Toolbar

Modified on Wed, 1 Apr at 1:51 PM

Xodo has released an updated interface for its desktop applications. This update aligns the desktop user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) with the Xodo.com web platform, providing a consistent environment for offline use.

How to Enable the New Interface

To activate the updated look and feel, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the toggle in the top-right corner of the application window labeled "Try the New Xodo".

  2. Click the toggle to initiate the switch.

  3. When prompted, save any open documents.

  4. Allow the application to restart to apply the changes.

Features of the New Design

We have introduced a completely redesigned toolbar to centralize your most-used tools and improve workflow efficiency.

  • Modern Navigation: A new layout that removes wasted whitespace at the top of the application, providing a cleaner workspace for your documents.

  • Enhanced Tool Access: Directly access key features from the toolbar, including:

    • File Management: Open multiple documents, save changes, and close specific tabs directly from the new interface.

    • Annotation & Markup: Quick-select Callout, Text Box, Typewriter, Sticky Note, and various Markup tools.

    • Drawing & Measurement: A dedicated "Draw" section for shapes and integrated measuring tools for precise work.

    • View & Page Controls: Easily toggle Page Fit options, Page Layouts, Full Screen, Reading Mode, and rotation (clockwise/counter-clockwise).

  • Interactive Improvements:

    • Tooltips: Hover over any icon to see its name and function.

    • Visual States: Improved selected states for tools within dropdown menus, so you always know which tool is active.

    • Search: A new integrated search bar to find text within your documents quickly.

    • Redo/Undo: Dedicated buttons now available on the top bar for quick action reversals.

Reverting to the Classic View

If you prefer the previous interface, you can return to it at any time.

  1. Locate the toggle on the toolbar.

  2. Click the toggle to switch back to the classic version of Xodo.

  3. The application will revert to the original layout immediately or upon the next restart.
