Edit Tags

Existing tags in a document can be edited if needed using the below options.

Change Tag Properties

  1. Right click (Mac: Ctrl + Click) on the tag you wish to edit and choose Properties in the mouse menu.
  2. Set the tag property options you wish to use
  3. Click OK to apply the changes

Tag Property Options

Type - Select the type of content being tagged from the drop down. See Standard PDF Tag Types for a description of each

Title - The title for the element being tagged. This is an additional label to further identify the type of tag

Actual Text - Actual text displayed in the page content

Alternate Text - Additional explanitory text related to the text or image content (i.e. a caption for an image)

ID - Unique identifier for the tag

Language - Sets the langauge for the entire documents. See Tagging PDFs for details on setting the language for specific text within the document.

Note: If the language doesn't appear in the drop-down list, you can enter the ISO 639 code for the language in the Language field.

Move Tags

Tags can be moved using either drag and drop or by using the cut and paste functions.

Note: Hold down SHIFT or Ctrl (⌘ on Mac) to edit multiple tags.

Using Drag and Drop

tags can be reorganized simply by dragging and dropping them to the desired location in the tree. When a tag is dragged to a target, a horizontal black line appears on the screen under the target tag. The length of the black line indicates whether the dragged tag will be inserted underneath the target tag, or added as a child to the target tag.

This Tag will become a child of Page 6.

The longer line designates the tag will be inserted underneath page 7 as a child of page 6

This Tag will become a child of Page 7.

The shorter line designates that the tag will be added as a child of page 7

Using Cut & Paste

Cut and Paste can also be used to reorganize tag. You can cut a tag from the tree by right-clicking (Mac: Ctrl + Click) on it and selecting cut or by using the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+X (Mac: ⌘ + C). Then paste the tag onto its new parent by right-clicking (Mac: Ctrl + Click) on an existent tag and selecting Paste or by using the keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+V (Mac: ⌘ + V).

Delete Tags

There are three ways that a tag can be deleted:

  • Select the tag with the mouse and press Delete on your keyboard
  • Select the tag with the mouse and click on the delete button at the top of the tag panel
  • Right-click (Mac: Ctrl + Click) on the tag in the tag tree and choose the Delete option in the mouse menu

Note: Hold down SHIFT or Ctrl (⌘ on Mac) to edit multiple tag.
