Set Xodo PDF Studio as default PDF viewer in Windows

Security changes made since Windows 10 now prevent applications from being able to set default applications programmatically. Instead users must set their applications manually through the Windows interface.

You can change your default PDF application in Windows 10 and above to Xodo PDF Studio by following the steps below:

Set Xodo PDF Studio as default PDF viewer

Windows 11


  1. Right-click on any PDF file.
  2. In the mouse menu, choose Open With -> Choose another app
  3. Select Xodo PDF Studio in the Recommended Programs list
    • Note: Administrator rights are required in order to change default applications
  4. Click on "Always" To set Xodo PDF Studio as the default




Windows 10


  1. Right-click on any PDF file.
  2. In the mouse menu, choose Open With -> Choose another app
  3. Select Xodo PDF Studio in the Recommended Programs list
    • Note: Administrator rights are required in order to change default applications
  4. Check the box “Always use this app to open .pdf files
  5. Click OK
